What's Happening

Hi all,

Back again for another edition of What's Happening, with plenty of movie info for you to lap up. Enjoy!

Below there is the latest poster for 'The Hunger Games' with Jennifer Lawrence on the front. The movie is adapted from a set of books about a nationally televised event where a boy and girl selected from districts in North America and are chosen to compete in what is known as The Hunger Games. They must fight until one survivor remains. I am yet to read the books, but will probably jump onto them pretty quick.

- Director Jan de Bont is looking to take on the remake of Johnny Cash film 'Five Minutes To Live'. Deadline.com reports the 1961 film about two men executing a bank robbery, one robber holding the bank managers wife hostage and the other robbing the bank, will begin casting soon. Here's hoping they put together a killer cast and make it something special.

-There's some interesting information on a possible animated 'Terminator' film which you can find out more about over at Moviehole. In the article there is even talk of Arnie lending his voice to the project and also they are looking to make it with motion capture technology and in 3D.

- Lucasfilm have announced they'll be offering Podrace-Goggle Glasses with the release of 'The Phantom Menace' in 3D. This still wouldnt be enough for myself to go see the film but I'm sure any fans out there of the newer episodes will be all over it.

-Liam Hemsworth has signed on to join the Phillip Noyce directed 'Timeless'. The story is about a man who is haunted by unresolved issue with his late wife, then uses the money left by her to build a time machine to see her for one last time. That's real love.

- News circulating the net is that it looks like actress Lily Collins wont be starring in the 'Evil Dead' remake. Diablo Cody has also done some re-writes and it is said to be pretty violent. All I'm saying is: YES PLEASE!

-Over at Bloody Disgusting, Edward Furlong (I was wondering where he went...ok, not really) has a film coming out called 'Below Zero'. Its about a screenwriter with writers block who arranges to lock himself in a meat cooler in order to meet a deadline. Though as the temperature falls the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur. I've had a look at the trailer, looks cheap and nasty...I wouldn't have my horror any other way.

-Looks like the boys from 'The Hangover' may be back pretty soon. Over at The Hollywood Reporter it seems the actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis are currently negotiating somewhere around the $15 million mark each to reprise their roles. Lets hope its a better script this time and not a carbon copy sequel which I thought was extremely lazy.

-Looks like Columbia Pictures has release the synopsis for upcoming 'The Amazing Spiderman'. No real surprises in the information released. I am very much looking forward to a new take on Spidey.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance – leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

Cast: Peter Parker/Spiderman - Andrew Garfield; Uncle Ben - Martin Sheen; Aunt May - Sally Field; Gwen Stacy - Emma Stone and; Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard - Rhys Ifans.

-More 'Avengers' promotions have been released including Empire magazine covers and some of the various colognes soon to be unleashed on lucky people. Ill definitely be splashing on some Hulk Smash.

-Still on Marvel, news is that a Dr Strange film script has been completed. The comic follows a New York Surgeon who is injured in a car accident and is unable to practice medicine. He then goes on to learn magic and sorcery after hearing of the existence of a mystical Ancient One.  They are currently looking for a director and a possible release date in 2013. Click on: Mavel Universe Wiki for in-depth information about the character.

- Over at Variety it looks like RKO Pictures is looking to reboot The Saint with a possible view to make it a trilogy. The Saint used to be a tv show starring Roger Moore about a character called Simon Templar who was kind of like a modern day robin hood. It was then eventually made into a film with Val Kilmer, which I have to say I quite enjoyed, unsure why they didn't make any more. I'm looking forward to a fresh take.

-Below is the poster for the new John Cusack film, 'The Raven'. IMDB describes it as a fictionalised account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life. Basically the movie will be about the poet chasing a serial killer whose murders are the same as his stories. I'm up for this one, hope its scary...ok not too scary.

-Finally I'll leave you with a picture of Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg who are possibly working on their next project together after the awesome 'Shaun Of The Dead' and the equally great 'Hot Fuzz'. What's being dubbed the Cornetto trilogy (as Cornetto's feature in both films) is leaving a lot of hardcore fans curious and hungry for whatever they have cooking.

Hope you enjoyed today's info. Til next time.
