What's Happening
Hi All,
Its been a few weeks since the last report so my apologies I have been a busy little bee.
I managed to fit in a few films this week that I'll recommend. 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel', '21 Jump Street' and 'Hunger Games' which were all very enjoyable films, until I saw a film which I recently posted up the trailer of, and that was: 'The Raid'. All I can say is wow! I am a massive action fan, mainly of films made in the 80's to 90's, a time when studios threw a lot of money at this genre and it had decent directors working on them, these days it has shifted to comic book heroes and the standard action film has become a bit polished and not dirty enough. But 'The Raid' is old school gold which will satisfy any action junkie who's been missing their fix. There's not much to give away, but its basically about a SWAT team who's mission is to go into an apartment block run by a badass drug-lord and bring him out, of course its not as easy as it seems and all hell breaks loose. People are blown to bits, amazing martial arts are present and heads are smashed repeatedly into walls, so basically...just go see it.
Now onto some movie news people:
-I recently read that Michael Bay will be directing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film in which he's said the turtles will be aliens. OK Bay, I'm a big fan of the Turtles buddy and it is one formula that you really don't need to change or mess with. I'm thinking he will be doing another Transformers effort on this one, he gets lucky with the first film, then craps on the sequels. But I will try to be optimistic as in the end I am a fan of movies and so hopes it turns out good.
-Over at ABC news it is confirmed that there will be an Anchorman 2, all I'm saying is: Cannonball!!!!!!!
The original starred Will Ferrell and was about an anchorman in the 1970's having to deal with taking on a co-anchor, but not any co-anchor, a female (gasp!). The plot was paper-thin but the humour was definitely love-it or hate-it, but I cant wait to see one of my favourite characters of all time return, Brick. If you haven't seen the original check it out, just remember, there is no plot, just super lame humour and to set your expectations at zero and you should love it;)
-Below I have the logo Warner Bros. has released for the new superman film 'Man of Steel'. The film looks to be released in June 2013. That's a long way away, but there's plenty of big popcorn flicks this year to keep everyone going until then.
-News on the 'Iron Man 3' front is that Robert Downey Jr, Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are on board for the sequel, great news, which will be directed by Shane Black. Shane has a great history with writing the scripts for some all time classics such as 'Lethal Weapon 1' & 2, 'The Last Boy Scout', Long Kiss Goodnight' and 'Last Action Hero'. He recently directed 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' which also starred Downey Jr, and said that the next Iron Man film will have real world villains. Either way, I can't wait.
-Over at The Hollywood Reporter it looks like there's talk of a possible sequel to 'Twins', yep you heard right. But this will be called: Triplets. With Schwarzenegger and DeVito having to return, who would play the triplet? Let's try, Eddie Murphy. You know, I'm usually against sequels, especially ones made many many years after the original, but what the hell, if Murphy came on board it could be pretty crazy so let's see if they can come up with something funny...maybe I'm getting soft in my old age lol.
-More crazy sequel news over at comingsoon is that there'll be a follow up to Dumb and Dumber with the original cast of Jim Carey, Jeff Daniels and directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly also jumping on board. Just click on comingsoon for more info.
-Creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane will be making his directorial debut with 'Ted'. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg as a man who's teddy bear came to life as a wish when he was a child, but is still at his side in the present. Ill be posting the trailer up after this post. Looks like comedy gold...and a lot of profanity
-Below I just have some standee art which has leaked online, both of Batsy and Bane looking baddass. Definitely looking forward to these two going head to head:

-Finally I'll leave you with the new poster for the Total Recall remake, I'll also post up the trailer after this post. This one will apparently be closer to the source material, but after seeing the trailer, just looks like a copy of Arnie's original but...not as cool. It stars Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid, a man who visits a company called Recall who implant memories of vacations, the catch, you can be anyone you want to be in this trip. Problems pop up when Quaid's implant goes wrong and he's forced to find out which reality is...real. Only time will tell if its just a pointless carbon copy or something special.
Til next time!
